Are You Ready To Build Your Team?
Branching out and sharing leads is a very scary thing to sales people....and that's what we are! We are confident in our own abilities and the idea of giving a lead (and the prospect of shared or lost commission) can be difficult. If we are going to succeed beyond our own talents, we need to build a team of solid agents around us.The question is how and more importantly, who.
The how is relatively easy.....we meet people all day. We meet agents and those who show interest in Real Estate. We can add existing agents who are struggling with lead generation, or groom them from scratch. It's different with each person. The main point here is to find people who understand your way of working and who you can reach....do they understand what you tell them, and can they act on the ideas.
What if you're thinking.....I barely have enough leads for myself. Ok, but you know how to generate them. This is valuable too! You can show the team members how to blog, how to work open houses, how to generate leads. Don't underestimate this...and just being part of a team with support can often spur agents to better results. If you have one listing....you can offer open houses to someone.
Now....onto the who. I touched on this above....but you are looking for bright, eager and open people. What do I mean by open? Open to new ideas, open to teamwork, open to success. Ooh....did that sound like a sales training video? "Are you open to success"? Ok, maybe, but it's also the truth. Build your team of optimistic people and then encourage them.
Once you have a team (even if it's only 2 people). Take responsibility for the team. You are asking for a portion of their income, you must earn it. You must nurture them and help them. Spend time with them and brainstorm....you don't have to be perfect, you can learn together. The team relationship is always a mutual one, so if it doesn't work.....it ends. Business relationships come and go....so try one, if it's not right, it will end on it's own. But the advantages of a team are great...financially and professionally.
