Every year Keller Williams agents set aside a day "RED DAY" for community improvement. This year we took time to clean up the beach at the National Seashore on Padre Island. Agents from all our offices were involved in various community projects. My office chose a great way to help. Not only did we clean up a large portion of the beach, we had fun doing it!
Gold Financial, Farmer's Insurance, Bay Area Title are just some of the sponsors that provided food, water, and support in our efforts to make a difference in our community. We collected a lot of trash left by visitors that should have used the trash cans along the beach or taken their stuff home. Leaving trash at the beach is not cool! Birds and other animals can get trapped in wire or fishing line and plastic and styrofoam can kill birds and other animals when they try to eat it.
We had pickup loads of trash we removed and the beach is sparkling now. Afterwards, we had a great bar-be-que and some of the agents engaged in a little football on the sand. One little helper that joined his Mom in the clean-up actually caught a large redfish with his 5th cast into the surf. Boy, was he happy! He carried that fish around and showed everyone.
It was a fun day to do something worthwhile and fun at the same time with those you work with. Thank you to all the agents that participated and thank you to all those that helped by supporting those that worked. Looking forward to next year.
The National Seashore at Padre Island has 70 miles of beach and driving on the beach is allowed for 60 miles. Come visit when you can. It is an awesome place!
