North Bend, Washington is a modern, but small community located in King County. It has a population of just over 5,700 people as of the 2010 US Census. The community, which was founded to support the nearby Weyerhaeuser sawmill, is no longer an industrial location. Rather, it is quite the bedroom community located only a matter of miles from Downtown Seattle. Perhaps what it is most well-known for its the television series Twin Peaks, which was to be set here.
Nevertheless, North Bend offers a wide range of amenities and benefits to those that live here. One of the most prominent fixtures here was the North Bend Theatre, which opened its doors in 1941. It has operated as an independent movie theater since that time and maintains one of the most distinctive buildings in the area. there’s also the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum here. It is operated by the Snoqualmie Valley Historic Society and offers a fantastic look into the history of the region. It, too, has a long history of supporting the community.
A key benefit of living in North Bend is its location. It is about 30 miles just to the east of Seattle and right off of I-90. There is a metro line here that connects it to Downtown Seattle and numerous other communities. In addition the area has a number of beautiful parks, historic neighborhoods, and an incredible landscape. It offers all of the modern amenities individuals desire as well including a public library, recreational facilities, numerous shops, and various restaurants and diners.
Overall, North Bend is small, but it is near to one of the largest cities in the region and offers affordable to moderately priced homes. For many, it offers the right combination of modern features with a small town feel to it that defines life here.
