The trouble is you think you have time

The Buddha's teachings began to be called a religion when they were discovered by the West. That's when the "ism" was added, creating Buddhism. And so I don't consider his teachings to be in conflict with any religion. The Buddha was just a human being who had deep insight into why we're unhappy and dissatisfied much of the time and what we might do to find a measure of peace in this life.

The following are some of my favorite Buddha quotes... hope you enjoy...

Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.

Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care.

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.   (one of my favorites)

If you want to fly give up everything that weighs you down.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought.

Rule your mind or it will rule you.

Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.

Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are, it solely relies on what you think.

Every experience no matter how bad it seems holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it.

Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.

There is no need for temples. No need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness.

If you cannot find a good companion to walk with... walk alone, like an elephant roaming the jungle. It is better to be alone than to be with those who will hinder your progress.

Everything that has a beginning, has an ending. Make your peace with that and all will be well.

The trouble is you think you have time.

I love the teachings of the Buddha.  Basically they are be a good person and bring no harm to others and seize the day.  Can't go wrong there.

Beth- I loved them all but especially the first...each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.  It wouldn't hurt to read these over and over again.
