Missing the "Good Ole Days"

Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage 93383

Growing up as a child was a wonderful experience for me.  I had 3 brothers and dinner time was always a treat with six of us around the Dinner table enjoying Mama's delicious cooking.

As a young person, our family would watch TV on Saturday and Sunday evenings....Mama would pop  popcorn and we would sit around and watch the Ed Sullivan Show.  We would see the new performers enter into the entertainment arena.

I remember seeing Stevie Wonder doing the finger poppin thing and also the Jackson 5.  Elvis with his gyrating hips..and of course the BEATLES!

Shirley Temple was my favorite.  I would watch "The Good Ship Lolipop" and dance along with her.  Then there was that "Masked Man on the White horse"....and then the Ape Man that swung from the vines...

We would play outside till dark and come in when Mama would call out "Dinner's Ready" "Come in and wash up".

I miss those Happy, Carefree Days of youth.

I think that it is so sad that my Grandchildren spend their time on the computer or playing video games.  They need to be outside, running and enjoying all of the beauty that surrounds us.

If you have Memories that you would like to share, please do!!

Good afternoon Ginger,

Yes the good ole days were fun and if you were not at the dinner table there was not a special meal for you.

My rule that my oldest daughter uses is for every minute of TV or computer there is an hour of reading from a real book or outside doing something.

Make yourself an astonishing day.

Hi Ginger Harper ,  It was just my brother and I.  We lived in a small town and had the run of the County with our bikes.  We spent the summers at the lake.  When I was 10, everything changed when we moved to the city.  I too long for the good ol' days.

Ginger, This sure brings back memories! I had three sisters and a brother and remember many of the things you mentioned. Life was so different back in the day...it was a simpler time and we were free to be kids and enjoy our childhood rather than rushing to grow up as kids today want to do.

I remember in the summer leaving home in the morning and not coming home until dinner. The neighborhood kids all got together to ride our bikes, play baseball, tennis or whatever and everyone's parents looked out for the other parents' kids as if they were their own. I miss those days and, more importantly, kids today have no idea of what they are missing.
