When I started my real estate career with Keller Williams I was asked to make a vision board. This is something I had never done before. I worked on mine for about week and I tried to really give it some thought about what I wanted for the rest of my life. At the end of 2014 I had a major life change. I lost my corporate job I had had since 1984. I had been employed with Goodyear since I was 26 years old. The majority of my adult life. Before I was laid off my "visions" for life where not well defined. My husband and I had plans for retirement and we were confident we had planned accordingly. Then everything changed.
When I first started my vision board I thought this is silly. How can pasting images on a poster board help me achieve life goals. But the joke was on me; it works. I choose images of "things" I wanted and also of how I wanted to feel. I wanted my vision board to focus on how I wanted to feel for the rest of my life, not just on material things I desired. Don't get me wrong, there are alot of things I want. I made a special place in my office to display my board so I could see it everyday; several times during the day. I find myself looking at it and not realizing I am visualizing my future. What a powerful tool! The purpose of my vision board is to bring all the dreams and hopes to life. What you focus on expands!
My vision board is all about family first. I became a grandmother in 2015 and one image says "Simple Moments with your grandchildren often become Priceless Moments". This has come to pass. Another big part of my vision board is travel. I love to go to new places; see new things. One destination that jumps out at you is Costa Rica. We are going to Costa Rica this June for our 40th wedding anniversary. Check that one off! I have been working on my application for the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution, for the past year. This is something that is very important to me. My application is in Washington DC and should be approved soon.
My vision board has helped me identify my visions, reinforced them on a daily basis and it keeps my attention on my intentions.
I hope this will spark an idea for someone to create their own vision board. I would love to see others.
Have a great day!
