I Love The Rain In Greenville, SC!

I grew up in Michigan and I loved the heavy downpours we would get there. Rain drops the size of quarters! It was too much fun as a kid to run outside with my brother and sister in a heavy Michigan rainfall!

After living in San Francisco for many years, I got tired of what was usually what I would call "wimpy" rain. Fine, misty, wimpy, drizzle type of rain. The type of rain that can't decide if it wants to be fog or rain.

Now that I live in Greenville, SC I absolutely love it when it pours buckets of rain, and we have a great lightning show and cracking thunder that makes a grown man duck for cover! This is good stuff!

My life has come full circle as I've enjoyed watching my own kids run out in the back yard, laughing and giggling during a heavy downpour of rain!

Early this morning I awoke to the sound of a heavy downpour of rain on my rooftop. I jumped up and opened the window blinds, cracked open the window and watched the rain with my wife and kids. The smell of the rain and the sound of the rain was just beautiful!

One of life's simple pleasures, I guess!

I don't know if you took that shot of the 'raindrops' but its gorgeous!  Your story reminds me of a movie...........Skylark - sequel to Sarah plain and Tall...........where after going through a long drought with her family somewhere in the midwest, glen close goes back to visit her 'aunts' in Maine............suddenly theres are rain storm.............and she goes out in the midst of it and revels in the rain.................the glory of it - especially there are some who hardly ever see it!

I understand what you mean Kirk. I too lived in the Bay Area for a long time. It always seemed like the fog was more important thain the rain. Of course when we went on rotating days of being allowed to use you clothes washer people began to realize just how wonderful rain is. Good luck in you new choice of living area I know my family and I love it here. That is why we have stayed for over 8 years and have no intention of leaving.
