The Man Who Knew Infinity has to be the greatest movie I've seen in a very long time. It's a true story about Srinivasa Ramunujan, (1887-1920), a self-taught mathematical genius played by actor Dev Patel from Slum Dog Millionaire.
From the moment the movie began until the very end, I was captivated with interest. Throughout the movie, pages of my life kept flipping back and forth, thinking about how different people come into your life and begin to question everything you do. Judging others is a way of life and many people are wrong about who they judge. They want to know, how you did something, why you think that way, they may stare at your shoes, your clothes, the way you look and think; then sum you up before even getting to know you, thinking they know everything about you but they are wrong. Most often, they will talk about you, behind your back and many are jealous. If they don't like your answers, there may be a high price to pay. Sadly, sometimes the people you love the most, like a parent, will not understand and will break your heart. People in authority, those who you look up to, may be the very ones that disappoint you the most.
Endurance, strength, courage, determination, and the willingness to believe in yourself, when others doubt you, may also be the necessary journey, part of the path one must take to discover new inner strength. Your belief system may be your most valuable asset. I find, the greatest people that come into your life are the ones who don't give up on you and will support you until the end. Your greatest enemies are those who cause you to doubt yourself. Catching on to ideas too quickly can exacerbate the flaws in others who may betray you. Standing up to others, and believing in yourself, and what you have to do, takes the greatest courage of all. Those who pioneer the way for others, such as Srinivasa Ramunujan, to follow will find pain, loneliness, fear and doubt.
This is a movie I hope everyone will have the opportunity to see.
