Joe, as much as I have learned about humans and my fascination with their behaviors, I have to say that I've not ever described it this way! I do always try to find commonalities, and simply a "connection".

Joe, I am laughing ... yes, there is some truth to mirroring ... for me it works best with it somewhat fits with me.  I've had some probate clients F-bombing me over their anger with their siblings and somethings their deceased parent. All I could do is listen ... and give them permission to speak their feelings ... was not going to mirror that.

Hi Joe, while mirroring our clients is a great way to communicate with them, it has to fit our personality. I just can't see myself starting an email or a conversation with "hey man".

Hi Joe - I can see the advantage to doing that as long as you remain yourself.

Duuuuude --- I agree with Grant Schneider that some mirroring behavior/language may be beneficial but it would need to be consistent with who I am.  

Joe my response kind of depends on the mood I am in at the time.
