That is pretty much the way I responded to him after getting his email.

 

Hey thanks man! I've already found several houses under my $200,000.00 budget and I'm very excited to be working with you.

 

I learned a long time ago about mirroring with the person that I am interacting with, no matter if it is face to face or over the phone. It isn’t always easy but there is a comfort level to the other person when we sound somewhat the same. J

 

How about you, how do you handle situations like this?

Joe, I am laughing ... yes, there is some truth to mirroring ... for me it works best with it somewhat fits with me.  I've had some probate clients F-bombing me over their anger with their siblings and somethings their deceased parent. All I could do is listen ... and give them permission to speak their feelings ... was not going to mirror that.

Hi Joe, while mirroring our clients is a great way to communicate with them, it has to fit our personality. I just can't see myself starting an email or a conversation with "hey man".

Duuuuude --- I agree with Grant Schneider that some mirroring behavior/language may be beneficial but it would need to be consistent with who I am.
