Waterways Walk                                                                         SPECIAL ALAMEDA WALK

On May 21, Alameda Walks group will meet at 9:00 am at the small park on the grass behing Pet Food Express, 2661 Blanding Avenue, Ste F, next to the Fruitvale Bridge.  The walk will circle the Estuary from the Fruitvale to the Park Street Bridge and back.  EBRPD staff will talk about local wildlife including the endangered peregrine falcons that nest nearby and tides, sea level rise nad climate change.  The walk is a prelude to a colloborative program with Rhythmix Cultural Center on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.

 

The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 22  mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  All the fruits and vegetables are available at great prices.  So good!  Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits, vegetables and flowers.  The market is on Webster Street and Haight Avenue and is open rain or shine.

 

Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid food trucks on Saturday, May 21, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot near Petco.   

Encinal Extravaganza of Bands, on May 21 at 10:15 am the 21st annual event featuring middle and high school bands from all over the Bay Area.  The bands will meet at Encinal Highs School gym at 210 Central Avenue.  The parade begins at 10:15 am at the corner of Third Street and Pacific Avenue.

Family Nature Fun Hour on Saturday, May 21 at 2:00 pm at Crab Cove Visitors Center, and learn about “Nuts About Squirrels” and discover what its like to be a long, bushy tailed nut collector.  Then finds out what’s new at the cove.  Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.  Crab Cove is located at 1252 McKay Avenue in Alameda.

Drop-In Art at the Alameda Free Library main branch on Saturday, May 21 at 2:00 pm.  Free for all ages and children 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  The Main Library is located at 1550 Oak Street in Alameda.  For more information pleasse call 510-747-7705.

 

The Alameda Theatre and Cineplex will telecast the live Golden State Warrior’s Playoff Game on Sunday, May 22 at 5:00 pm.  Pick up tickets at the Theatre at  10:30 am the day before the game.  Proceeds for the event benefit the Warrior’s Community Foundation.  The Alameda Theatre is located at 2317 Central Avenue in Alameda.
