Choosing An Agent —
Buying a home can seem simple at first, but there is a lot more that goes into it than you may realize. On average 50 people are involved in the buying process of your home. You want to make sure you have someone looking out for you, and navigating you throughout the process. The seller of the home pays the commission of the buyer’s agent. A buyer’s agent has a fiduciary duty to look out for your best interest. It is a win-win situation so you are not uneducated and alone when it comes time to sign contracts.
Purchasing a home is one of the biggest investments, and purchases a person will make in their lifetime. So, choosing an individual who is going to advise and represent you in this is a big deal.
It is a good idea to not only read reviews and information on multiple agents online, but also conduct interviews of agents once you’ve narrowed it down to a few good options. Zillow and Trulia are good websites to find reviews of agents. You will want to make sure that they have good experience, and are very knowledgeable. You will also want to make sure that they are familiar with your primary area of interest. One of the most important factors in finding an agent to work with is how well you get along with them. The comfort level between agent and client can make a huge difference in how smooth, and enjoyable, the home buying process will be. Ultimately, you want to work with someone you like, know and trust.
