TGIF Concerts in the Parks Carlsbad

This year will be the 31st season of Carlsbad’s popular TGIF Concerts in the Parks series. This series of free concerts is proudly presented by the City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office. If you don’t already know, the TGIF Concerts take place on 9 consecutive Friday nights in 4 of Carlsbad’s beautiful parks.

The TGIF Concerts in the Parks are always well attended, with several thousand people and a sea of blankets and chairs enjoying the great outdoors, al fresco wine-ing and dining, lots of kids, dancing, and live music in a wide range of styles. Each TGIF Concert runs from 6 – 8 with intermission.

Here’s the 2016 schedule for the TGIF Jazz in the Parks series:

Stagecoach Community Park

3420 Camino de los Coches in 92009

June 24: Pato Banton and The Now Generation (Reggae Dance)

July 1: The Dustbowl Revival (Vintage Bluegrass/Country)

Alga Norte Community Park

6565 Alicante Road in 92009

July 8: The Mighty Untouchables (Party Cover Band)

July 15: Nancarrow (Country Rock)

Poinsettia Community Park

6600 Hidden Valley Road in 92011

July 22: Boogaloo Assassins (Latin/Salsa/Soul)

July 29: Sully & the Blue-Eyed Soul Band (R&B Cover Band)

Aug 5: Western Centuries and the Bedbreakers (Country & Rockin’ Roots Blues)

Calavera Hills Community Park

2997 Glasgow Drive in 92010

Aug 12: Todo Mundo (World Latin)

Aug 19: The Detroit Underground (Soul Cover Dance)

Dining at the TGIF Concerts in the ParksThe quality of the bands has always been excellent, at least from what I have seen and no doubt 2016 will be another terrific series of great music.

Be sure to arrive early to find the best parking in the surrounding neighborhood areas and great seats.

The TGIF Concerts in the Parl offer plenty of dancing, some food options if you don’t bring your own, and abundant raffle prizes sponsored by the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts which help to fund these free concerts and other arts events during the year.

Jeff I hope you get to go and enjoy these concerts.  It is still to chilly around here for outdoor concerts but I can't wait for ours to start up again.

Hi Robert Vegas Bob Swetz

They are lots of fun. We usually get to a couple of them each summer, sometimes, more. Fun by ourselves, or with good friends

There are several I definitely want to see. We can still get chilly evenings in June because of being near the ocean, but you bring a sweater or a blanket to wrap around you and you are good to go

The live music is really lot of fun and the bands I have seen have been quite good. And free is not a bad thing either!

Ha ha, VERY clever!. But I think it's best to BYO. You see some pretty elaborate parties set up with some groups of people. It's great fun

Agreed. It's a fun way to provide entertainment for the community, and it raises lots of money for the arts programs as well as the concerts in Carlsbad!
