How to Dominate a Keyword or Location
Some great advice from Tammy Emineth about Keywords and how to rise high in your rankings in the search engines. If you want to make the Internet work for your business, this is a great post to read.
How to Dominate a Keyword or Location
Geo locating is something that Google has been doing now for a few years and it customizes the search results depending on where you are located in the world. It typically will not show you results for an area that you don't live.
So we need to take those results and customize the way we conquer our keywords. Focus on one until we rank then move on.
For instance, let's say you sell real estate in Columbus Ohio. That's a big market to try and tackle so until you can be trusted with the big, go for the small. Focus on smaller places around Columbus until you mastered that online then move on. Let's say you want to go for Gahanna, a small town north of Columbus. Write about it ad nauseam. Talk about the area, write multiple posts about market reports, local business reviews, type of homes and schools, etc.. write for at least 2-4 months on that one area until your posts start showing up in the search results. Once you have been noted as an authority on that one place then move on to the others. Don't try to conquer all of them at once. It just won't work as fast. Once you have dominated Gahanna and all that is that town, only then should you move on to another town and another and another.
By doing any phrase or keyword this way you can become an expert in your field and Google will find it very authoritative and rank you accordingly.
Let's say you specialize in Home loans and Mortgages for a particular area. Focus on one area of expertise with your area in the title like: "Construction loans in Portland" and write everything you know about it. If you don't think you can split it up into smaller blogs on different topics, make one or two amazing and full length articles about it and totally cover everything you can about it before moving onto another topic in your area.
Then link to it, talk about it on social media and have other people link to it if you can. If the article is that fantastic everyone will want to link to it.
But start small, work your way up by dominating in a small area then moving on. It will work, it just takes time and persistence.
