Is Your Real Estate Agent a Certified Doctor?
As a patient, I would want to be treated by a medical specialist, who has taken an oath to uphold their profession with integrity and professionalism. How about you? Now that I have your attention, let's talk Real Estate Agents.
You can have an agent who has a license and is able to buy and sell homes and properties, but may not have the integrity you need in the Real Estate Profession.
The public regards a Real Estate agent as a "REALTOR®",
when actually they may not be a REALTOR® at all. There is a Real Estate Agent and there is a REALTOR®
" The term REALTOR® has one, and only one, meaning.
REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark, which identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics." (From the NAR website)
The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® is America's largest trade association with over a million members, which include residential and commercial Brokers, Salespeople, Property Managers, Appraisers, Counselors and others in the real estate industry.
It includes 1,300 local associations/boards and 54 state and territory associations.
That does not mean that when you hire an agent to represent you, when buying or selling a home is actually a REALTOR®. Each real estate professional has the choice to join NAR and subscribe to the "Code of Ethics".
Wouldn't you rather have a REALTOR® represent you,
