Do I have Arthritis or just getting older?

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty ONE Group 65491

For the last 2 years I have been feeling pain in my knees, back, feet and neck.

I have been working in the construction trade for the last 35 years so this could be part of it or could it be old age?

I have heard that colder climates can effect Arthritis vs warmer climates, but when I lived in Alaska for 5 months through the winter I did not notice more pain.

I would go see a doctor but they will more than likely come up with some lame term and or give me some pain pills, etc. But if the pains continue for the next few months then I will go see the doc.

I tried loading a drawing of Arthritis I found on the Internet but for some reason my new laptop will not allow photos, go figure ;o/

So is Vegas Bob the only one that feels this pain or are there others out there?

And if the pains I am feeling are from getting older and my father will be 80 years old this year, I can't even begin to understand his pain.

We do not get younger is for sure. Another is how one coups and make adjustment. I hear a bunch of seniors talk about surgery and pain to each other.

Have a great day.

Try taking "Turmeric" ultra pure with black pepper. Anti-inflammatory relieves joint pain and arthritis. Give it a try!

As Joyce said I hear Tumeric is good for anti-inflammation.

I have heard from docs that arthritis is very common in most adults and becomes more noticeable as we age in our joints. I know I would personally do anything to avoid pain pills unless that was the last resort. I have chronic neck and back pain due to some curvature in my spine. I see a chiropractor every 3 weeks and have for years - helps keep things loose and flexible

I have been living with arthritis (neck and back) for nearly 15 years now and treat with my chiro for relief. My chiro does "gentle chiropractic" using the activator and drop table, much kinder to older people.

Ice is your friend, if I overdo it between visits with the chiro, 20 minutes with a gel pack can work wonders. When ice is not available, I use Bio-Freeze which is not an Rx but works great and gets me through the day.

Aleve works wonders...either take one in the morning and one at night or skip the morning and just take two at night. It is trial and error to find out what works for you.

I can't tolerate Tumeric, upset my stomach, but take tart cherry pills to help with inflammation. Fresh cherries also work, the Montmercy (sp?) from Oregon are best if you can find them.

Oh the interesting things our bodies do as they age....hopefully you won't need the doctor.

My dad just turned 80 last weekend. He was still in Florida on the actual day so his party is being held weekend after next. They spend the summers here in New Hampshire and just arrived. I'm looking forward to seeing him and my mom.

I have a friend who swears by taking a couple tablespoons full of organic vinegar each day.

Meanwhile, my husband's knees give him trouble and for a time were really, really bad. He had surgery to repair a tear, but was still in pain. Searching on line I learned about Prolotherapy - and it is a miracle.  The only trouble is that it's hard to find a doctor who knows how to do it.

They inject either a sugar solution or shark cartilage right into the joint. The shark cartilage treatments cost more, but last far, far longer. In fact, after my husband had that just once it was a couple of years before he needed another - and the darned doctor had retired!

The sugar treatments last about a month or so, but also bring welcome relief. I could hardly believe it when I saw my husband walking up a steep hill after he'd barely been able to walk across the floor in the house.

I am right there with you my friend.  Things I used to think nothing of now cause my back to hurt and I just run out of steam a whole lot faster.  Not fun.

Oh yes I feel your pain, literally. I have often thought of those much older than me and what they are feeling.
