The Hawaiian Humane Society’s foster care program helps to save thousands of orphaned pets, as well as, family pets that are in crisis or victims of domestic violence. This past year, the Hawaiian Humane Society placed 1,442 shelter animals in caring foster homes.
Over 100 animals are in foster care every day. If you are student in need of service learning hours, fostering an orphaned animal in your own home can meet those requirements and provide an enriching experience for your entire ‘Ohana. If you have ever wondered if pet ownership is right for you here is an opportunity to find out and save a pet from an uncertain fate.
It is essential that volunteers have the ability to transport their foster animal to and from health care appointments and have the desire and time to spend with the foster animal. There are short-term and long-term opportunities, including fostering animals when the Humane Society Shelter is at capacity or when need demands.
