It's funny how our lives take shape. Feeling quite blessed to still be enjoying life some 44 years later, I pulled out this picture from 1972 when I travelled on a USO Tour in the Orient with Indiana University's Kappa Pickers. Here we all are with a military man and a local, posing for a quick snapshot. I'm on the back row, far left.
Quite memorable for a 22 year-old to travel internationally. Over the summer of 72, we played Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, and Guam. Our servicemen enjoyed our show of all female college students, with three of us guys playing behind them. Mike Read on keys, Dick Middleton on guitar, and me on drums. So, on Memorial Day, I am remembering the goodness of God, and our great country's service men and women whom we honor today and everyday.
Here's what I'm doing musically these days. A song that Asher Benrubi, Dante Turner, and I wrote and recorded about the alligator trapper in Hilton Head SC. Joe himself is in this, and I'm the other old guy in a green tee shirt!
