The June Challenge involves admitting your biggest mistake in real estate. Well, since I have made lots of "biggest" mistakes this one surfaced after reading Tammie White's post about her biggest mistake goes well with my own biggest mistake.
Any successful real estate agent must have an Internet presence.
And one of the greatest resources, when it comes to an Internet presence, is the SEO power generated by blogging - especially on ActiveRain.
The light did not come on as quickly as it should have back then when I had a broker tell me, as I was being hired, "we want your blogging power."
For some reason I took that as a compliment...when I should have taken it as was a wake up call!
Anyone who has been blogging for more than a few months should be able to vouch for the Google juice that can be generated by consistent information rich blogging.
Here are two key milestones in my ActiveRain blogging journey.
- I posted my first ActiveRain blog entry on March 31, 2007.
- I posted my first ActiveRain blog entry as Waters Realty of Brevard, LLC on February 23, 2014.
That was seven years of blogging for another broker..."we want your blogging power."
So, just as Tammie White, says get a good website, I suggest you blog as well to promote yourself.
In the end the real estate business is all about you providing a service and promoting your personal brand - not some brokerage.
