JUNE ACTIVITIES AT LAKE ANNA STATE PARK...Thanks to Jo Finch, President of the Friends of Lake Anna State Park, for the following information.

Activities planned at Lake Anna State Park for the month of June

06/04/2016    Clean the Bay Day    9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.   Join over 6,000 volunteers statewide and make a significant impact on the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Think what happens in your backyard doesn't affect the bay, think again! You'd be surprised at the amount of non-point source pollution that harms the bay each year.  We offer two options to help at Lake Anna.     Join the ranger on land and walk the shorelines to help clean litter (perfect for families with young children that want to lend a hand) or dock you boat at our Visitor Center (VC docks are south of the swimming beach) and we'll provide trash bags to each boat, canoe, kayak or SUP to help us clean from the water.    At Noon we'll meet back at the Visitor Center to collect all the filled trash bags and share the weirdest thing you found!     So grab some friends and form a team or just come on your own - all volunteers are welcome! This event is perfect for Youth Groups, Scout Groups and counts towards required volunteer hours.    Pre-registration is encouraged: Call 540-854-6245 and leave a message if no answer or email:Lauri.Schular@dcr.virginia.gov for details.      Location - Visitor Center    Phone - (540) 854-5503
