Each month our MMG Market Insider showcases concerts, events, fundraisers and great things to see and do in Richmond. This Saturday a very worthwhile fundraiser is being held by “Habitat for Humanity.” Most ofyou have heard of this organization, as it has been showcased on many home improvement networks and pops up in the news often. For those of you who may not have heard of them, the are a non-profit Christian organization which helps build affordable housing for low to very low-income families, and was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller.
Their Vision and Mission statement, found on www.habitat.org states:
“Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.” At Habitat for Humanity, we not only offer safe, affordable homes; we offer hope. By facilitating homeownership, families can break the cycle of poverty, which goes a long way to building a better future for multiple generations.
Since 1976, Habitat has helped 6.8 million people find strength, stability and independence through safe, decent and affordable shelter. It has become nationwide and has many offices and resale shops in many of our states.
