This upcoming weekend the 45th Annual Fexas Folklife Festival will be held - June 10, 11, and 12th.
The Festival is the largest cultural celebration held in our state. It is expected that over 40 different
cultural groups will be represented at this festival in 2016. This lively, fun, family friendly event is held
on the grounds of the UTSA Institute of Texas Cultures. Our Texas Folklife festival was originally
modeled after a Smithsonian event held in our nation's captial in Washington DC. But our Alamo
City has made it their own as I mentioned for soon to be 45 years. The Texas Folk Life Festival
offers many options for food and drink plus many different varieties of entertainment all from
the different cultures that have come together to live in and enjoy the great state of Texas and
specifically the Alamo City. If you have never been it is a great deal of fun and offers inciteful
and educational cultural opportunties generally not readily apparent in every day life and all
presented in fun and charming ways. Children particularly enjoy these introductions to a
variety of cultures they may never have seen before. So, look forward to seeing you there!
