5 Effective Ways to Enhance Your Curb Side Appeal

When we go out for a party, we all like to get dressed up; to present our best-selves. Why not show off your home’s best by creating more curb side appeal? Whether you’re looking to sell your home or just wanting a change, curb appeal is an easy and often budget friendly way to update your home.

Paint the Door

Snap pictures of your current paint, or take paint samples with you to find the best color to make your door stand out. There’s even an app called Front Door Paint to see what your door will look like with different colors on it! Get it here: Front Door Paint

Feeling extra ambitious? Paint the trim and shutters too!

New House Numbers

There are hundreds of ways to make your house numbers stand out. Ways like putting them on risers in potted plants outside the front door or finding decals on etsy! No matter how you choose, don’t forget this is how people like the pizza delivery man find your home, so keep it clear and easy to read.

Upgrade Your Mailbox

Mailboxes often get neglected and they are a great small selling point for any house. Find a mailbox you love, either on Amazon or peruse pinterest for cute d.i.y. ways to upgrade your current one. Make sure the numbers are clear on the mailbox as well, so the mailmen don’t switch out your subscription to People with your neighbors Garden and Gun! Always check the regulations for your area to make sure your mailbox is compliant.

Front Porch Lights

Check to see what your front porch lights look like. No one likes a bug incrusted burnt out looking lantern and your house deserves better! Either buys new ones, or give your current ones a good scrubbing and repaint job! If you’re thinking to upgrade the lighting fixtures, look for fixtures that have the same mounting system as your current ones to save you time and effort.

Give Your Home A Good Scrubbing

This seems like a no-brainer, but sometimes we tend to neglect the siding and windows during our busy lives. You don’t even need a power washer as a lot of times those can damage siding and remove caulk around windows. Just use your garden hose and turn the nozzle you use to its most powerful setting. Wash away debris on and around the house, clear the cobwebs and dirt that has accumulated. Wash your windows, you’ll be surprised by how dirty they get!

Hi Todd,

Great points.  I've had buyers want to see a home based on the photos online, but when we arrived to tour it, they would say, "never mind".  Little things can make a big difference and get the home sold quickly and for top dollar.
