One of the most charming and most convenient areas of historic San Antonio (close to downtown)
is LA VILLITA (the little village.) La Villita meanders along the south bank of the San Antonio River/ Riverwalk. Orginally one of San Antonio's first neighborhoods the area is now a mecca for unique arts and crafts shops plus several excellent restaurants. La Villita is known locally for three primary reasons- One is the Little Church of La Villita which is a tiny but charming church which many local couples use as their marriage location; Second for the Arneson River Theatre which is home to the spectacular Fiesta Noche Del Rio show which is put on most weekends during the summer; and Third as the location for A Night in Old San Antonio which is a big part of Fiesta and a primary fundraiser for the San Antonio Conservation Society.
La Villita is close to the Convention Center, many downtown hotels and restaurants, the Briscoe
Western Art Museum, the Riverwalk and of course - The Alamo. And should not ever be overlooked.
