There will also be a public hearing on an ordinance to adopt the property tax rate for FY 2016-2017, with the proposed tax rate being $0.36 per $100 of assessed value of taxable property.
This is the same effective property tax rate for the City of Brentwood for the 26th year in a row. The actual rate to be levied has been reduced by $0.08 from $0.44 to the proposed $0.36. This reduction is due to the results of the recently completed countywide reappraisal, which resulted in an average 22 percent increase in property values in Brentwood. The final state certification of the new effective rate is still pending.
For those who are not familiar with Brentwood Tn, the city is located just over the county line south of Nashville, and has had the highest rated schools in the state for many years, and as you can see, low property taxes. The usual pay increases for public workers are in place, as well as a budget surplus.
