Renovations are important when you are planning to sell your house. No one wants to buy a house with a leaking roof or broken pipe. However, even though a particular renovation seems cool to you
, it might not always be a great idea. What you think is a smart upgrade may not impress a buyer and they may be reluctant to factor the upgrade into the purchase price. Consequently, you need to be conscientious with how you opt to spend your money if you expect the investment to pay off.
Think twice, or even three times before making any of these three renovations. They may seem like an improvement, but can actually act as barrier to the quick sale of your home:
1. Extensive Landscaping
Homebuyers may love the waterfall feature, lush plantings and extensive paver patio decorating your back yard, or the sophisticated landscaping at the front of the home, but don't make the mistake of thinking your home's value will increase because of it. A fantastic looking yard may encourage potential buyers to take a closer look at the home, but will probably not increase the selling price.
