My business blog is about real estate, the target audience is consumers, followed by my peer groups. My objective is attract readers who are looking for someone to help them in real estate around San Francisco Bay area. I do not narrow my scope to just homes as the profession is wide open to those who want to pursue what interests him. All my work is not made up. They often giving the data, validation, credible sources and references. I was a well respected bloggers on Trulia, and Redfin(384 kudos) before. Unfortunately, these commercial sites prefer to have their own agenda. We realtors are not welcome to contribute anymore. I think the reason is relevancy on search. Bad bloggers tend to give these sites a bad reputation. For example, on Zillow there was this agent whose logo is 50% credit back and 1% solution. He will comment on each one hoping to catch a fish. These commercial sites now want realtors who are not premier paid agents to find leads elsewhere. They use their or other agents on your listings.
Blogging will make a professional realtor easier to be found from a sea of links. When done right, it invites a stream of solicitation calls, emails, spammers to get you. Before a true client gets in touch with you you need to filter out these inquiries. Many want free advice and will go to another agent after squeezing wisdom out of you. Most who signed up blogs realize it is not a trivial matter. If there are no fresh, added value on sites regularly or consistently blogging still does not work. It will take much more time before people approach you with a business proposition.
There are many bloggers most talk about themselves. There are a few leaders. Guy Kawasaki is a great inspirational mentor, teacher, and entrepreneur. He was the McIntosh marketing guru at Apple. Guy is a noted speaker and founded many personal computer companies. Some of his books are quite inspirational:"The Art of the Start", "Rules for Revolutionaries", "Selling the Dream","How to Drive Your Competition Crazy", and "The Macintosh Way". He has written a total of 13. He also takes advantage of social media with 352,078 connections on FB. Unlike those who envisioned to consolidate all properties listings on one website, replicate other agents listings and provide discounts have buyer agents who have sign up, real estate is about doing lots of grunt work to get noticed and provide a service to buyers and sellers. What you put into is what you expected to get in return. Mathmatically, The output=input x efficicency. How efficient is how good the person is. There is no substitute for hard work. You may be be rewarded if you work hard at it.
When starting your blog one needs to be patient. Success will not come overnight. You will probably need to have created at least 100s posts before you start seeing any meaningful traffic to your site. Keep at it and you’ll see the results.
