Many of you are aware that San Antonio is now recognized as the 7th largest city in the US. This is an accomplishment to be noted and celebrated with a thoughtful reminder of the Alamo city's fascinating past. In 1890 San Antonio edged out Galveston as the Largest City in the Largest State.
San Antonio's population in 1890 was 37,000 and in 1930 San Antonio's population had grown to
230,000 people. So the Alamo city has been a major American and Texas city for over a century.
From everything I have seen, heard and read about San Antonio there was a feeling among many
San Antonians that San Antonio was almost perfect and that any growth should be very
controlled and modest. San Antonio city leaders appreciated our local businesses, military bases and retirees but Houston and Dallas formulated a more aggressive approach to attracting new business, new business opportunites and encouraging growth and thus their areas seemed to expand a great deal and over took the Alamo City in population. All this began to change in the late 1960's and 1970's with a very
charming and affable San Antonio Mayor Walter McAllister in the 1960's and has continued to accelerate from then to the present. Under his leadership inovation and growth began to be appreciated and encouraged. And from this change in mindset that began in the 1960's and has continued to pick up steam. San Antonio is growing dramatically. Business oppportunities abound. Truly it is an exciting
time to live, work and play in San Antonio. And more and more Americans are seriously considering
relocating to the Alamo city. And we would love to help with any relocations.
