Lettuce Eat Plants
Even with the temperature reaching 90 degrees last Saturday, thousands filled the grounds of the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for Eat Drink Vegan (formerly known as the Vegan Beer & Food Festival). This was the 7th annual event, but only the second time at this spacious venue with a stunning backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains. Because of the increasing turnout, the event moved from The Roxy on Sunset Boulevard before last years' festival.
This is a fun and interesting way to spend an afternoon for adults. Admission is 21+. You can either wander from stand to stand until something catches your eye, or plan before you arrive which vendors you'd like to check out. The list of Eats and Drinks is posted on the event website in advance along with a festival map.
Food stands are set up around the perimeter of the large, grassy area, and the beer taps are all together in the middle, with hardly a wait for any of these tasty offerings. There are over 60 eateries, 90 breweries, and also wine, kombucha, cold brew, craft soda, and beauty and clothing vendors. Once you've paid admission, all the drink sampling is free with your souvenir tasting glass you receive at the door, but you pay for any food and clothing that you may want. Bring a chair or blanket and a water bottle to refill at the filling stations.
