Are there any opera lovers out there

My last blog was removed for talking about negotiating on the newbie site. I read the rules and they suggested we intorduce ourselves rather than talk business.

So I'll try again. My name is Barbara and I am a Realtor in Illinois. I LOVE opera. The opera season has ended in Chicago but I keep active by doing opera programs in local schools. I am part of a volunteer group that teaches grammer school children about opera and allows them to take part in a mini opera (not singing, but dressing in costume and acting out the opera as I tell the story and play recorded opera music). Not only do I have a wonderful time, I know that I am helping to build future audiences.

Do you have anything like this in your area?

Do you have a hobby that you really enjoy that also benefits your community?

I have had to work on the Saturdays the Met broadcasted to local theaters. Have you gone? What did you think? Did I really miss out?

I am blessed to live in Blue Ridge Georgia,where fly fishing is great. The Toccoa River runs right through Blue Ridge and is considered to e among the best in the south,as far as, trout fishing goes.

Chicago Lyric Opera is a great company!

I played French horn for years, sometime in opera pits. Frankly, I'd rather be in the pit than in the audience. Puccini is a favorite of mine. And of course, all brass players love Wagner and Strauss!

The Metropolitan Opera used to come to Minneapolis on tour every spring. I remember hearing Joan Sutherland and many other great artists on tour with the Met.

I think I read the post you refer to prior to it's being removed. I'm not an opera fan but I do love Andre Bocelli's singing! He is awesome!
