I have lived on Long Island for 30 plus years and never knew about the Sagikos Manor home until this past Father's Day.
I have to say, this was a pleasant surprise and if you love history, this is a great location to check out. For about $3 - $6 you receive a one hour tour with guides who dress the part and share fascinating facts and stories about those who once occupied this home, including General George Washington.
Beside touring the inside of the 1967 home, you could also explore the garden. The Sagikos Manor Historical Society is in the process of restoring this once blooming garden of roses, vegetables and long peony runes. For now you can view the iconic peacock statue and lily pound.
The manor also offers various events held on their grounds. The could range from car shows, small concerts to antique sales. Before you depart, you could even take a souvenir home by stopping off at their gift shop.
