Fun Facts About the Columbia Residences
I love sharing the history of Washington with my clients. Many of the buildings in the city have been repurposed over the last few years as Washington begins to appreciate its rich architectural heritage. The Columbia Hospital for Women first opened in 1866 as a health care facility for wives and widows of Civil War soldiers. Columbia became a private non-profit hospital in 1953 after President Eisenhowr signed legislation transferring it to a board of directors. The faciity closed in 2002 as the result of financial difficulties and then the building was expanded and converted to condos in 2006. Among the more than 250,000 people born at Columbia Hospital for Women were Duke Ellington, Al Gore, and Katherine Heigl.

There are a number of sites on the internet that will give you 'estimates' for what your home will sell for. These sites use public records and usually some kind of algorithm to try to produce a value for your home. These sites also publicly state their 'error rates'. That means they aren't correct, they are simply an estimate based on incomplete data. We would love to do a free comparitive market analysis of your home or condo in the West End and let you know what you could expect to get in today's market if you are considering selling.
Our valuation is based on up to the day data for homes that have recently sold in the area. Our valuation is not based on a formula that relies on public records which can take months to update. Please visit my website in order to get your free property evaluation for your home or condo in 20037.
