Who does not absolutely love a 1915 highwater bungalow with original features? Raise your hands. OK, the rest of you can leave the room, LOL. Because I want to talk with potential buyers who see the beauty and feel inspired to tackle a job like this one. Much of the hard and expensive work has already been completed, like raising the entire house to allow for a 9-foot ceiling height in the lower level.

Hi Elizabeth -- I don't believe I have heard the term highwater bungalow(I'm assuming it's a regional river related term) but it certainly seems like this may be the ideal opportunity for the visionary homebuyer.   I'm sure you will be able to find a few of those hanging around but as we know, it's only takes one.   Here's to finding the right one and very quickly too.

Michael Jacobs We call them highwater bungalows because prior to 1915, before the levees were built in Sacramento, it routinely flooded. So homes were constructed with the living space on the second floor, about 6 feet high from the ground. They stopped after the levy was built.
