It's Shark Week in Silver Spring - A Fintastic Time of the Year

Shark Week is an annual week-long TV programing event that was created by Discovery Communications/Discovery Channel starting in 1988.  In it's 28th year, Shark Week begins tonight June 26th and runs through July 2nd.  Shark Week 2016 TV Schedule

If you live in Downtown Silver Spring, it is hard to miss Shark Week!  The Discovery Communications Headquarters is always decked out in some way to Honor Shark Week.  This year the Discovery Building has a mural (chosen by local residents voting for the best mural). 

For many years the big attraction was "Chompie" the huge shark that seemed to swim through the Building. Chompie has been missing the last few years, but replaced by some very striking murals.  The mascot, Chompie, Jr has been around at events leading up to Shark Week this year.

Shark Week is the longest running cable tv programming event in history and the best place to celebrate it is in Downtown Silver Spring. Maryland.
