The Meadowood Mall Reno welcomes sporting goods giant "Dick's" into the fold. As part of its continuing efforts to update and diversify, Meadowood Mall has struck an agreement with Dick's Sporting Goods to add a 50,000 square foot store onto the south side of Meadowood. The store is expected to open for business within the last quarter of 2016.

When this new store opens at Meadowood Mall Reno, it will be Dick's third Nevada location. This will also be the only store in Northern Nevada. The other two locations are both in Las Vegas. 
This marks the latest bid from Meadowood Mall Reno's owners, the Simon Property Group, to breathe new life into the mall. Online shopping took a major bite out of brick and mortar stores in the last several years. Malls are no exception. Meadowood Mall Reno mixes local and national businesses inside its walls. The owners hope that offering more well known nationwide chains will encourage shoppers to frequent the mall more often. Cheesecake Factory is one such national chain. Dick's will, hopefully, be another. More shoppers mean more traffic to the local merchants conducting business inside as well.
The Simon Property Group invested thousands of dollars in upgrades to the mall's interior over the past few years. Many retailers have also renovated their individual spaces to increase their appeal. According to Simon, shoppers appreciate the changes.
Even though online shopping's popularity has increased, many people still feel the need to touch and see the merchandise before they buy it. Malls provide shoppers the opportunity to do this. Meadowood Mall Reno's location just 10 miles south of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport makes it convenient. It is also the only climate-controlled indoor shopping center in the entire Northern Nevada area.
