Canada Day 2016Looking for something to do in Durham Region this Canada Day long weekend 2016? Each community in Durham Region celebrates Canada Day along with the entire country with their own unique twists thrown in. 

Starting in the east, the Village of Newcastle has day-long events planned and welcomes you to join them! Free parking and free activities. Donations gratefully accepted to help keep Canada Day a free & fun event for all. Event begins at noon with Opening Ceremony at 4:00 pm at the Newcastle and District Recreation Complex, 1780 Rudell Road, Newcastle. There will be tethered hot air balloon rides, bike rodeo and free swimming! Also enjoy live music with "Imagine John" - a tribute to John Lennon, petting zoo, falconry exhibit, kid's activity table, Canada Day cake, Movies - Star Wars, BBQ, beer tent, face painting, jumping castle & slide and of course, fireworks at dusk! Bring your lawn chair! 

Bowmanville's Canada Day celebration is always sure to please (in fact, the fireworks in the image at the top of this page were taken at a previous Canada Day event in Bowmanville by Dianna Mandzuk Team photographer, Paula Kennedy!). The Rotary Club of Courtice hosts the event from 5:00 pm -10:00 pm with fireworks at dusk at the Garnet B Rickard Recreation Complex, 2440 Highway 2, Bowmanville.

Oshawa's Canada Day festivities take over Lakeview Park from 2:00 pm - 10:00pm with over 50,000 residents and visitors coming out each year to enjoy live bands, Superdogs, face painting, jumping castles and, of course, fireworks at dusk! There's something to please everyone at this premier festival featuring top-notch entertainment!

Not to be left out, Whitby puts on an impressive Canada Day event too - Come out to Victoria Fields from 12:00pm - 10:00pm for live music, food vendors, community displays and fabulous fireworks at dusk! 

Ajax invites you to join in their Canada Day festivities from 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm at Ajax Downs, 380 Kingston Rd E, Ajax. Enjoy food, fun, games, children's activities, face painting, inflatable rides, wagon rides, strolling buskers, entertainment and fireworks!

Uxbridge celebrates Canada Day with a bang in Elgin Park starting at 6:00 pm with fireworks at dusk. There will be live animals, children's entertainers, live music, food and fun activities for the whole family! 

For those to the north and east, the Township of Cavan Monaghan along with the Villages of Bethany and Pontypool invite you to Maple Leaf Park, 1473 County Rd 10, Millbrook starting at 6:00 pm until fireworks at dusk. They'll have bouncy castles, a magician, BBQ, cake, soccer themed events and games. Hosted by the Township of Cavan Monaghan, Heritage Canada and the Maple Leaf Cavan FC. 

PLEASE leave your pets at home where they are safe and secure. Pets are specifically not allowed at Oshawa's Lakeview Park event.
