We kept noticing paw prints throughout tiles in a home we recently staged and wondered how this could happen. The floors are Saltillo tiles.
A fellow stager directed me to this very interesting article about how these tiles come to pass. The blog is by Dave Etzold and called Footprints Captured in Clay...very interesting.

The shades vary tile to tile but are very much on the warm side with oranges, reds and yellows. They are left out to dry during the production process and sometimes Coyotes and other animals walk over them thus the paw prints.. so you too can buy a house with real Coyote prints, who knew!

Today's design trends tend to lean most towards cooler colors like the grays and whites but there is something to be said for warm and sunny colors too. They're cozy and fun to work with in that you can pull many shades from a tile like this like the trend towards gold accents. These tiles are typical in the Southwest and in Spanish Style homes. As long as I have been staging in Southern California I have never had the opportunity to work with them. This small starter home will make someone a very nice family home full of luck that comes with the footprints of life.
