Summer Activities on St Helena Island SC June 2016
St Helena Island SC is a large barrier island just a few miles east of Beaufort SC. Mostly rural with commercial fishing industry and farming as the main economy.
If you like the freshly harvested produce, and who doesn't, all the fresh veggie are now being harvested and sent to the packing houses. Visitors can stop by one of many local farm produce stands such as Barefoot Farms or Dempsey Farms and find plenty of there favorites.
If it's seafood you after, like the Low Country famous white shrimp, the island has 
many places to pick them up fresh off the boat. Like Gay, Dobson, or Bradley Seafood.
In the heart of the island is the community of Frogmore. Colorful shops, art galleries and restaurants sure to please. Be sure you order the Frogmore Stew.
Just down the road from Frogmore is Penn Center. Famous and the first school for freed salves after the civil war.
Just east of St Helena Island is Hunting Island State Park, northern Beaufort County public access to the Atlantic Ocean.
