Next Door Neighbor

Do you know your neighbors?

I remember being young and being outside all summer, all day. There were about 3 things that could get me to go inside. Dinner time(didn't have a choice), Bees or Wasps LOL, and if one of my siblings were being mean or one of us got hurt. Being the youngest I got picked on quite a bit but that didn't bug me too much because my mother always had my back. The one thing I miss is playing with neighborhood kids. We could go anywhere we wanted as long as we stayed in our neighborhood.

Climbing the Slide

Ok so why am I taking through my past and asking if you know your neighbors? There is a simple reason.... People don't go outside as much anymore. I don't have my own kids, but I have noticed kids are more inclined to stay inside in the AC with their T.V.'s, computers and any other techy devices. These two links are articles about kids and playing inside. http://2machines.com/188164/ and http://truthstreammedia.com/2014/01/16/digital-zombies-the-age-where-kids-dont-look-up-and-barely-go-outside-anymore/. Now these are just two of the top three articles on Google when you type in "Today's Kids don't go Outside". I don't think technology is the only reason kids don't go outside either. I think people are less trustworthy than what they used to be. How can you blame people.... We do live in a crazy world.

That is why I use this website and I'm super glad my neighborhood uses the website.
Next Door Neighborhood - https://nextdoor.com

Front Home Page

Next Door Neighbor is a website that my neighborhood uses. It is a great website that can be used by anyone who lives in your neighborhood. The website is not open to the public. To my knowledge they run on a private network, which allows it to stay private. Your neighborhood may or may not be using this already.

Front Page Privacy

This is a great tool for my neighbors as there is not a HOA in our neighborhood. Anyone can posts anything about: activities happening around the neighborhood, suspicious looking activity or to ask for help with anything. My neighbors use it a lot. I receive notifications via email and I go to the website when one of the topics is intriguing.

So as you can see it gets used a ton in my neighborhood. Most of the posts are lost and found dogs, social activities everyone is invited to, or information about local police departments helping the neighborhood.

My neighborhood has a park and a high school. Sometimes people will post about these two locations as well.

The website was already up and running when I moved into the area. For future clients you can have them go to the website link and search the area they are looking.

I do know my neighbors and I actually started "NextDoor" in my subdivision as well as an area community facebook group that is public.

I use nextdoor too. It is a very helpful network to find out about events or any updates in your hood.

Hi Sheldon Haywood , Yes, things sure have changed since I was a kid.  My brother and I had the run of the county with no worries.  It's not that way anymore!

Hi Sheldon -- I also use NextDoor it's definitely not snarky as some of the neighborhood Facebook groups tend to be.
