Many large historic American cities have beautiful old theatres and San Antonio is no exception.
We have the stunning Majestic theatre. Designed by John Eberson and opened in 1929 the theatre has an incredible Mediterranean interior plus a very unique star covered night sky highlighted by moving clouds which add a special magic to the theatre experience. The Majestic has been used as a movie theatre and concert hall with shows touring from Broadway, hosted the San Antonio symphony and star performers including Mitzi Gaynor, Phil Harris, Alan Cummings, Tony Bennett, and Johnny Mathis plus many others have performed at the theatre. The Majestic has over the years gone throught several major renovations and remains a San Antonio entertainment icon even with the creation of several other new Alamo city performing art venues. The theatre's beauty and uniqueness truly enhances the theatre visitors' entertainment experience.
The 2264 seat Majestic Theatre is a National Historic Landmark.
