Mild temperature year around with low humidity attract business

The mild temperatures and semi-arid weather is one of the main attractions to call Northern California home.  The summer days are never that hot. Often sea breeze comes in cool off in the evening.  The area is in the same latitude as Denver, Kansas City, or Philadelphia.  But last thirty some years I have never experienced snow in the valley. Last one lasted a few hours was about 40 years ago.  Today at 3:23 PM July 10th it is just 78 degrees F.

Job opportunities are plentiful especially in high technology sector. Here is a list of the top 20 profitable major companies. There are also many privately owned and start ups.  Many like Trulia, Intuit (Turbo tax), Microsoft, Paypal etc have major local presence.

Silicon Valley top 150 business (2014)

Perhaps because of ample employment opportunities that use highly skilled professional and mild weather, venture capitalists seeding money is available, the housing is very pricey.  Those who bought in the 70s are seeing their neighbor's similar homes fetch 40 to 50 times today than what they paid for.

A typical home can be shown like this one below that is the 10 year old three story 3 br, 2 bath modern featured 1,800 sf home on a tiny lot of 2,200 sf that sold for $1.1 million dollars.

new home

                                         typ. newer home 3 br/2 ba/1,800 sf on 2,200 sf lot  $1.1M

If the style and petite lot size making you think you are buying a detached town house, there are limited original homes in the area that come with 3 br/ 2 ba / 1,325 sf living on a 6,000 sf sixty-years old tract home just pay same amount as the newer home which is bigger with more lighting. Both homes are in an average San Jose residential neighborhood a few blocks away. Want a bigger size 4 br home? Can you cough up with $ 200,000 more?

typ older homes

                              typ.existing 60 yr old home 3 br/2 ba/1,350 sf on 6,000 sf lot  $1.1M

Families looking for a good time this summer besides going to the ocean beach? A yacht race? We have a Garlic Festival coming up with food and games for everyone. A garlic train taking people from San Jose train station to Gilroy which is 24 miles away.  Garlic Festival is held between July 29 through 31, 2016. For details see Gilroy 2016 Festival. Also there is a Gilroy garden tailored toward under 12 year olds and their parents (Gilroy Gardens).

I think they have garlic ice cream, McDonald area restaurants will come out with garlic flavored ice cream, garlic wine(tastes like salad dressing), garlic flavored hot dog....

Looks like a fun festival.  I bet there were lots of tasty treats to try.  Not sure about garlic ice cream though.

Hello Sam

Catchy title and when I lived in Morgan Hill we would always spell garlic when we drove by the garlic factory on the drive to Vegas.

I love garlic in many of my dishes and garlic is a very healthy food. I have many friends that went to the garlic festival and they said it was great!

Did someone say, garlic? I love it. If I lived closer I would be there. You've also offered other great information for those looking to move to your area. Nice work on this post.
