Tiny House Hot Water!

Tiny House Nation – Can the Tiny House be illegal?

With the growing popularity of the “Tiny House” concept I recently ran across an article that was explaining how often times the owners of these tiny houses are finding themselves in hot water and in many cases it is illegal to park them on open land.

Tiny houses are described at homes that are under 500 square feet and often times they are built on trailers and considered to be trailers just like your typical RV.

With the growing popularity is seems that it’s becoming harder to find places to park your Tiny House.

To park a Tiny House and or RV type living quarters you must think of a few things prior to setting up camp.

1.Where is your water and power supplies

2.How will the waste be handled

3.Will the City and or County allow such accommodations to be lived in or parked for a period of time.

I know that a few surrounding counties do not allow RV’s or such type vehicles like a Tiny House to be lived in on a piece of property longer the 15 days and then it must be moved.

My final thoughts, before you go with a Tiny House, make sure you have a place to park it!

John Cooper I always wondered how some of these people on the shows who appear to live near major cities were actually living in them. I've never seen one in real life and know there are a lot of rules that would make it difficult, as you've recognized. I'm sure there are people that tiny houses work great for, but it is definitely a hassle for many.

John Cooper - You've brought up some great points that tiny home buyers should know about so they can ask the right questions.  I didn't realize that they could be mobile and were not on a traditional foundation.  Great information on tiny homes!

Good morning John. You have made many good points. I like the idea of a tiny house but have never seen any in real life either.
