Pelham, NY is an extremely desirable community just 29 minutes by train from Grand Central Station and located in the southernmost corner of Westchester County. It is known for its wide tree-lined streets and sidewalks and is a true "walking" town. I moved to Pelham at the age of 12 and met my husband, who sat behind me in 8th grade. People raised in Pelham tend to stay there if they can. It's a civic minded, multi-generational town with great schools.

When I was growing up in Pelham it was known as a doctor's town because they could get to the Manhattan hospitals quickly for a middle-of-the-night emergency call. Surgeons, anesthesiologists, obstetricians were among the specialties who made Pelham their home.
Pelham has 2 private clubs for families that want access to a pool in the summer. The Pelham Country Club serves primarily the local community and offers an 18-hole golf course, pool and full-service restaurant. The Travers Island campus of the New York Athletic Club, located on Long Island Sound, serves the local and international communities with an olympic-sized pool, docking and mooring facilities, and a full-service restaurant. Pelham does not have its own town pool. Many homes in Pelham have their own pool.
