Letting Home Sellers and Buyers Talk

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

How many times have agents heard that a client would like to talk with the buyer or vice versa? Fortunately, for this Sacramento Realtor, it doesn't happen very often. In fact, it is very rare.

Most of my sellers do not want interaction with buyers, which is why they hired me. Even after the transaction closes, I do not give out my seller's personal information to the buyer unless authorized, and 99.9% of my sellers prefer no communication from the buyer after closing.

You can read more in my personal blog today about it at this link: Should Realtors Let Sellers and Buyers Talk to Each Other?

Good morning, Elizabeth -- lately, huh?  Have a good Monday and start of the week.

Sometimes the parties are so mad by closing, they would kill each other if they came face-to-face. It hasn’t happened to me lately, thank goodness.

Michael Jacobs Yes, not lately. It's awful when the buyer is out of control, but sometimes that happens. We can't always tell by the offer we receive whether the buyer is a sane or normal person, whatever normal is. Usually things blow up over a buyer's unsophisticated intepretation of a bad home inspection, which the seller takes personally, and the battle begins.

There are only a handful of circumstances where getting the parties to talk directly actually helps a situation.  Most of the time, it complicates things.
