Have you been to the Meadowlands lately? About 30 minutes north of Union County, the Meadowlands Racetrack is completely rebuilt. There are 4 levels of viewing stands, all with snack and drink vendors and cashiers to place bets.

We took a trip there a few nights ago with another couple. We have different ways of choosing our horses - Wayne has a much more scientific plan behind his choices whereas I lead with my gut. I chose a horse named "Bo's so hot" because Bo is my nickname for Wayne (long story - maybe another blog?). I chose another one called "Lucky Pearl" because our pearl anniversary (12 years) was the other day. What do you think - was the scientific method of choosing a horse more successful or was the going-with-your-gut method?

The stands are spread out so you never feel crowded and everyone gets a great view.
We had a fantastic time! Minimum bet is $2 and there are 13 races. Between us, we broke even and even had a little cash left over to pay the valet.

Parking is free, admission is free. The Meadowlands is a cheap and fun evening's entertainment!
