With all the homes being bought and sold right now there is a lot of moving going on in Bozeman! Whether you are moving across the county or across town, this can be a hectic time. There are so many little details to remember and lots of things to check of your to-do list before and after moving day. We have put together a few of the best moving tips and tricks to try to make the process as smooth as possible!
1. BACK UP COMPUTER AND MOBILE DEVICES
It can be devastating to lose photos or important information on your computer. Don’t let anything like this happen during the move by making sure to back everything up before you pack them. That way when you unload and boot up at your new place all your important information will still be there.
2. SNAP A PHOTO OF YOUR ELECTRONIC HUBS FOR REFERENCE
It’s easy to think you’ll remember where everything was plugged in, but once faced with the tangle of cords it can get difficult to recall. Easy way to solve this problem is to snap a quick photo with your phone to use as reference. This one could save you a headache for sure!
3. PACK PLATES VERTICALLY
Rather than stacking your plates on top of one another which puts pressure on the center of them, put plates in the box vertically. You’ll be less likely to open a box of broken plates!
4. DEFROST YOUR FRIDGE A COUPLE DAYS AHEAD IF IT'S MOVING WITH YOU!
Often the refrigerator stays with the home, but if you happen to be moving your fridge with you make sure to unplug and defrost it a couple days before the move. It can save you a big mess on moving day and is the perfect excuse to eat out!
5. PACK HEAVY ITEMS IN A ROLLING SUITCASE
Don’t move the suitcases empty…use them as extra boxes! Packing things like books and other heavy items in a rolling suitcase eases the heavy lifting because you can simply roll it rather than having to lift a heavy box. Brilliant.
