"Solarize Purcellville, that makes adding solar power to your home easier and more affordable by offering bulk purchasing discounts and free solar site assessments. "
Through July 31, residents within the Town of Purcellville can utilize Solarize Purcellville to learn more about solar power options specific to their homes and take advantage of a streamlined installation and financing process. A complimentary home energy checkup is also being offered as a part of this program.
This is a grassroots, community-based outreach initiative that is sponsored by the Northern Virginia Regional Commission along with the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) working with the Town of Purcellville. You can visit the web site www.solarizepurcellville.org for more information and to sign up.
Before you jump in, I suggest you investigate. Don't feel pressured by deadlines any company sets. Shop around if you are considering adding solar to your property. Don't feel like you missed out on some great deal because you didn't sign up for their current offer with a July 31rst deadline.
Also, be informed with the type of financing being offered. Many companies like this place a lien on your house which remains until the solar products are paid for, or in the case that you plan to sell, you'll need to find a buyer that doesn't mind assuming the payments for the solar panels. etc.
Another thing to consider is, if you ever decide to remove the panels, you'll have some roof repairs that will need to be done.
You can also just check with your utility company about doing an energy audit. You might find that adding weather stripping, adding some new insulated windows and/or doors, and maybe some attic insulation will save you on energy costs.
Also, make sure you understand tax credits before deciding to add solar.
