Biggest Social Media Success Story

Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

My biggest Social Media Success Story started when I stepped outside my comfort zone and started my Blog on ActiveRain. I have to confess, it was scary dipping my toes out into the Universe. If memory is correct, I did it in the dark, late at night. Within minutes I received a reply. I couldn't believe my eyes! I wasn't alone! It all happened just that fast and I've been on ActiveRain ever since.

The premise, of course, was to get leads, sales, buyers, and sellers while earning money in Real Estate! But the truth is, that didn't happen. I cannot tell a lie. As a result of Social Media, I didn't get anything  - zippo! Nadda! When it came to Real Estate, I got "Pie in the sky! My business continues primarily as a result of referrals.

Now I would bet you're wondering by looking at the number of points gained from participating in blog entries, providing comments, going to Rain Camp, making phone calls to other ActiveRainers, and submitting entries for contests what kept you on ActiveRain if it didn't produce results in the Real Estate industry?

Well, to be honest, I've asked myself that question many times. There were times I wanted to quit. For example, once upon a time I was offended by another person's comment and lost face. I didn't think I'd continue but what I got was positive reinforcement by concerned members. It reminded me of the time I was a runner in the 1990's. Although I wasn't the fastest or best in the 5K, Half Marathon or Marathon races, strangers on the sidelines cheered me on to the finish line and so did fellow runners. Many of those cheers came from people inside my community from where I lived and ran in Chicago. We were strangers; then we became friends. That was a very healthy and worthwhile endeavor. And that's exactly how I'd compare my experience here on ActiveRain.

Would I like to do better in business? Absolutely!

Do I want success and have better tools to achieve my goals? Yes!

Rome wasn't built in a day. Neither was I or my business. Nor am I in ruins. I have the positive support of virtual friends on ActiveRain. I've had the pleasure of meeting many in person. Some have traveled to Dallas to visit with me and I have traveled the distance to meet others. What I have gained is knowledge, insights, new techniques and the passion for improving my writing skills and becoming more proficient taking photographs. My friends on ActiveRain have given me inspiration, motivation, and determination to succeed. Thank you, ActiveRain! You are my sunshine, hope, and joy!

People admire the winners of from competitive sports. However, there are just as many happy winners and participants who feel great about what they do and have something to contribute.

This is a great blog.

I credit a lot of success here that isn't "direct" as a result of "here".  I learned a lot of things that I use in various other parts of my business.  I've learned about SEO for my WP blog, had my opinion changed on forced registration, and so many other things.  I am not sure I would have a FB business page if not for AR.

I find it hard to believe, Patricia, that not one seller or buyer called you from something you wrote. They might not have told you, but they do check you out, even if they were referred. Reading your words, hearing about your compassion for others, your empathy for fellow agents and your deep commitment to real estate, is enough to make any buyer or seller feel ecstatic that they are working with you.

Oh my, that picture is a beauty, almost as beautiful as your heartfelt words.

Consistency and persistence are needed on social media, just as they are with newsletters or other direct mailings. Sure, there are some lucky shots, but your success, when it comes, is likely to be sustainable.
