I'M NO PAINTER BUT MOTOWN DELIVERS

I do know how to have fun while painting for me or anyone else. I first dress down into something that if it gets torn, stained, full of paint or whatever that I don't really care. This is of major importance to my upcoming point. Then, I eat/drink a little something before hand. Finally, and this is the key, I put on some music guaranteed to either have me singing along or catching the beat with my painting strokes

THE MUSIC

Many years ago, I stumbled across a service where you could create your own music Cd's. At the time, I was spending a half a day in my car driving all over Southern CA and the radio, while not bad at times had too many commercials. The answer? Custom tapes of all the music I liked. (called itunes today)

THE GROUPS HIT SONGS

Now I used to buy the CD of certain groups and enjoy listening to them. However, either they contained some less than popular songs or omitted the really good songs. With this new service, you could create your own HIT PARADE of songs you love, one after the other. What could be better than that?

LOT OF MONEY BACK THEN

So, I spent the money which was a large investment for its time and created about 30 Cd's of custom music about 20-25 songs per CD. Remember, its stuff that I like, grew up with, and goes back to High School where all those memories just lay there waiting for you to visit at your convenience

AH MOTOWN

Motown was at its peak for me when I was in school. It still delivers guaranteed for so many reasons. First off, the beat of the songs were/are lively and complimentary not to mention memorable. You could easily dance to them. No ones body could stand still while these songs played. But that was not all...

LISTEN TO THE WORDS

The words were deep, meaningful and beautiful so apropos to the young at heart and in love LOL. Some of the Motown groups really put on a show and videos abound of the early groups doing just that. Usually a lead singer with back-up. The back-up used to have a choreographed movement and more

A ONE... A TWO....

So here I am, taking what I did decades ago, painting my home and listening to this quality music. I like to sing too so here is where it gets special for me. You can either sing the lead or the background/chorus. Sometimes I do one, then replay the song and do the other. As far as I am concerned, I am the singer (s)

THE FIFTIES and the SIXTIES

I don't limit my selection to just Motown either. There were so many groups back then trying to get into the music business and they came up with one hit tunes. Some managed to get whole albums out before they faded away while others stayed for the long run. You had to be good or no deal. They were good

AH the MEMORIES

I will tell you this. When anyone of my songs come on, its a guaranteed pleasure because I chose them all. No commercials, no so-so songs but hits as my little heart wanted and paid for. Amazing to notice that some of those tunes I captured bring mist and some tears as they quicken some good memories

JOB WELL DONE

The end result? My house gets painted, I am full of paint (don't care), and sang my guts out, visited mentally with old friends, foods, circumstances and long forgotten memories and worked up a decent in the moment appetite too. There's more!  The additional reward?

GRATIFYING AND FULFILLING

Later on that day, well into the evening, I enjoy the satisfaction of using my energy to get something done and enjoying it while doing so.The satisfaction is beyond measure but rewarding and sufficient. The next day, you get some aches & pains but of the good kind.

I DID THAT...

For the next several years or even decades, I will see my painting endeavors over and over and remember me singing and working with a range of emotions and pleasures making the act itself part of my life library. It is as simple as that....if you make it so. I made it so
