One of the great pass times in Boise during the summer is floating the Boise river. You can do it in a inner tube, a raft, a kayak, a canoe. The water is slow with just a little excitement. You start at Barber Park in the east end of town and float several miles to Ann Morrison park. You see lots of trees and some wildlife. The hot arid climate is welcoming on the river. I have floated the river in a huge raft I rented from Boise State and small little rubber rafts. It takes 2 or 3 hours and people sometimes bring their dogs and small children. I am enough of a Yiddisha mama that I would not take anyone who couldn't swim.
Logistically you have two choices. You can park a car at both parks or you can use the following company Boise raft and tube.
At Barber park they have places you can blow up your device without having to bring your own pump.
Last year we went with one of the little boat that leaked. Two of my grown sons were in the raft. They had an exciting time baling and eventually my youngest son decided to abandon the raft. He did not have water shoes and quickly realized he had a problem. He hitched a ride to Ann Morrison with another party.
My youngest son has gone twice. A summer is never complete without at least one float on the Boise river.
