Visit the New Nature Center at the Batiquitos Lagoon
The Batiquitos Lagoon in South Carlsbad is a real gem, and a rare tidal wetland along the Southern California coast. We are indeed fortunate to have this lagoon and nature preserve, a designated marine protected area (MPA), to enjoy without boating, fishing or swimming…just the joys and beauty of nature near the ocean.
There are miles of hiking trails to enjoy with natural beauty every step of the way – trees, flowers, the lagoon, and abundant bird life. The far western end is by the 5 freeway so the road noise does mar the quietude you can enjoy for a good part of the trails, which also meander along a portion of the Aviara Golf Club course.
The big news is the recently completed new Nature Center at the far western end, accessed by trails or by car through the community off Batiquitos Drive. The address is 7380 Gabbiano Drive. The new Nature Center at the Batiquitos Lagoon is open from 9 to 3 daily.
